Howdy!
It’s been a week since I sent out the Advanced Reader version of my (hopefully) forthcoming novel, Murder in the Glass Castle, asking for your input. (Click on the link if you’re still wanting to receive a copy.)
Based on your response, and having indicated an interest in reading Beta or Advanced Reader copies of my work, I fear I’ve made a critical error in my presentation of the request.
One thing seems obvious: My skills at marketing my work as a fiction author are lacking. Specifically, this reveals itself in creating a newsletter that inspires my readers to engage with me interactively.
Please help me navigate this journey. You have shown enough interest to open the earlier email requesting your input. What might I do differently to entice you to download the Advanced Reader copy of Murder in the Glass Castle and provide some feedback on its value to the greater reading public?
As a flawed, foolishly hopeful, writer of fiction, I’m asking for a more objective viewpoint from outside myself. I’d certainly appreciate your opinion.
Further notes on future contact with you, , faithful reader. (See me trying to win you over? I hope it’s working.)
I intend to clean up my current approach for email outreach. My plan has always been to provide a relevant newsletter, focused on updates that reveal some part of my work and life as a person who aspires to be an author. It should be interspersed with healthy doses of quality fiction, as well. And humor.
I hope to improve this effort going forward, but I realize the need for your help to reach that goal.
Let me just say, I can be a lazy writer, prone to avoiding activities that might provoke a deep rooted fear within me that any real effort I put toward success is predestined for failure. (This is a psychological construct built of inadequate materials during childhood development that was reliant on substandard parental guidance. Nobody’s to blame, really. It’s just the way of humankind.)
I honestly believe that you deserve to open an email worthy of your time. And I know that your email time is greatly overtaxed.
As for this bit of time you’ve given me, my sincerest THANK YOU. Mark
Can’t wait to hear from you!
